Letter From Biologist Andrew Goldsworthy BSc PhD – Risks of Increasing Base Station Power Levels
In this letter to Cliff Mason of the UK communications regulator OFCOM, biologist Andrew Goldsworthy BSc, PhD responds to a proposal by Vodafone to increase the power of its base stations.
Dr. Goldsworthy details the effect of the modulated radiation from mobile phone base stations on the immune systems of humans, animals and plants. He points out the increasing reports of cancer clusters and heart conditions around mobile phone masts, as well as increased growth abnormalities and death in nearby plant life.
Radio frequencies, like those emitted by mobile phone base stations, can interfere with the navigational systems of many animals. Dr. Goldsworthy points to the disappearance of the bees as a likely result and spells out the consequences that the loss of this species would have for humans.
Dr. Goldsworthy ends with suggestions for lessening the damage caused by these base stations.
