Cell Phone Safety Bill Introduced in Oregon by Senator Chip Shields, Calls for Radiation Warning Labels on All Cell Phones
Sen. Chip Shields introduced Bill LC 1273 (and Amendment ORS 646.608) in Oregon, Feb 4, 2011. The Bill is co-sponsored by the health committee chair Sen. Laurie Monnes Anderson, Sen. Alan Bates (co-chair human services subcommittee), Sen. Rod Monroe (co-chair education subcommittee), Rep. Jim Thompson (co-chair health committee), Rep. Ben Cannon (health care, co-vice chair).
This bill is distinct in that it specifically addresses the “non-thermal” effects from a radiation-emitting device, which is significant as the FCC and FDA are thought to not have jurisdiction over “non-thermal” radiation-emitting devices.
