Republican Congressmen Call for Repeal of Coming Incandescent Light Bulb Ban

Reps. Joe Barton, R-Ennis/Arlington, ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Michael Burgess, R-Lewisville, ranking member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, and Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., today introduced H.R. 6144, the Better Use of Light Bulbs Act.

Reasons cited, include U.S. job loss, mercury in compact fluorescent bulbs, 85% of energy savings can be lost in CFLs by turning them on and off, CFLs can raise heating bills, harm to health and that the Energy Star program warns CFL bulbs can over heat and smoke.
